Okay, I admit it. I have Derby Fever!
Every year about this time I get what is known as Derby Fever! There is no cure, and the symptoms are fireworks, shopping for the perfect hat, chuckwagon food, pegasus pins, mini-marathons, red roses, the song My Old Kentucky Home, the Great Steamboat Race, The Derby Festival Balloon Race, and the Oaks. Parties galore. It culminates in a 2 minute horse race, known as the sport of kings, horse racing’s first jewel in the Triple Crown, and the fastest 2 minutes in sports.
While I might argue with that last statement, I admit that there is a buzz, and excitement in the air. The Kentucky Derby is just around the corner May 5th this year, and I am hat shopping. It’s a tradition here. Doesn’t matter if you plan to attend the Derby or an after-party, or even just sit in your living room and rout for the winner on TV! Derby Time is the perfect excuse for a hat lover like moi to go shopping!
I can’t make up my mind, though. I found three I really love and they go great with my new Derby outfit, and shoes.

Well, personally, I love the red and black. Red is a power color and very attention grabbing. The styles in that one and the white and black are very similar, so it would be a second choice. I love those styles of hats, but have nowhere to wear one.

I love the red flowers on No. 2, but I think my favorite overall is No. 3. It’s beautiful!!

I like number 2. The red and black are a good combo. Number 3 came in a close second, though.

Oh CC! I love this! Hat number 2 is so hot! I love it! Number 3 would be my second choice, but number 2 just has that hat thing… you know what I mean?? :)

I like number 2 also. I don’t like number one at all. Number 3 is good, depending on what you’re wearing.

CC, I have to agree with everyone else, number 2 has a special flare! And with the others, number 3 is in second place.
I would love to go to the Derby just once, I bet it’s so much fun. Be sure to post photos after.

I’ll call the store tomorrow and have them hold it for me. That way if I get stuck in traffic tomorrow or am running late, it’ll still be there.
I love their hats as they are one-of-a-kind creations, handcrafted by Kentucky artisans.
And yes, I think the red and black will look awesome with my black dress.
