Book Soundtracks?
The Shifting Tides Soundtrack
I kept hearing authors talk about their “soundtracks” so I had to find out what they meant. A soundtrack for a book is basically what music the author was listening to when they wrote their story, or better yet, what music sets the tone and mood for their book, with each song representing a different scene or even a different character.
With this in mind, I created a soundtrack list for my Shifting Tides series. Very Celtic in theme, with a few exceptions. If you get the chance to listen to any of these songs, you’ll see or should I say, hear (LOL) exactly what I mean.

My soundtrack for my World War II historicals came mostly from the Glenn Miller Platinum collection.
The Nearness of You was Ron’s favorite song in A Soldier’s Love, and Stardust was Katie’s favorite song.
The Glenn Miller song, The Story of a Starry Night, played heavily in the plot throughout Gold Star Wife.
For Sentimental Reasons was Scott’s favorite song in A Different Tune. I think I goofed a little with that one, though. While the song was written during the war years, it didn’t become a huge hit until 1946.
Other songs that I’ve mentioned in my books are all 40s standards: Sentimental Journey, I Don’t Want To Walk Without You, Moonlight Cocktail, Blue Rain, White Christmas just to mention a few.

Oh I love some of those myself, Lu! I still remember grandfather playing “We’ll Meet Again” by Vera Lynn, on his record player.
