Games Night

My sisters and I love to play games, and every time we manage to get together we have a games night.

Well, last night was games night and the guys joined in. We played something called Express Yourself.

It’s a game that takes batteries and there are voice actors to play as the hosts of the game. It’s part pictionary, part charades and part $25,000 Pyramid. I love it.

Hubby is so energetic when he has to do the charades part, that he about knocked my one sister over in her chair. LOL.

Well, about mid-way through the night, the batteries went dead. So sis got the idea to call the front desk. Yeah! They had batteries. So we went down to pick them up. She asked them if they get a lot of calls for batteries from hotel guests, and she said, “Often enough.”

So sis and I were joking about what sort of things people would need all those batteries for…hee, hee….

About twenty minutes later, we had to call the front desk again, this time for a plunger for the stopped up bathroom.

After that was working, we resumed game play. Then hubby cut his finger on something and sis suggested we call downstairs and ask the front desk for vaseline and band-aids.

Goodness knows what they’d think we were up to in that room!

Batteries, then a plunger, then vaseline and band-aids!

We finally quit around one a.m. and headed home. But I wish ya’ll could have been there. Hubby was so cute playing mime for the charades portion of the game.

What are some of your favorite games to play with family and or friends? Do you ever have get-togethers and play board games or cards?

If not, you should. It can be a heck of a lot of fun! :)

Sounds like you guys had a blast!

Games are a big deal in our house. DH designs ‘em, so he’s always looking to see what all’s out there. A couple of our favorites are SET and BLOCKUS.

Actually a lot of the games we own are on that http://www.educationallearninggames.com site.

We also do a lot of video games here. Rock Band is the current favorite here.

We don’t do it as a social event often enough. Need to work on that in the coming year.

We play board games with the boy a couple times a week usually. But he’s only 5. We play a lot of Chutes and Ladders.

Last weekend The Man and I had drinks and played Risk. We love board games, especially at holiday times. His Mary Lou Retton attempt during charades is still talked about.

We’ve got a ton of games. Risk and Pictionary are favourites, but after a few drinks nothing is more fun than charades. :friday:

LOL I sense a book in this! That’s priceless!
Game night sounds fun, but we don’t do it.
Thinking maybe we should start :D with the kids getting older, they’ll be funny to watch!

Friends and I always gather at one friend’s house on NYE for a safe New Year’s celebration in a controlled environment (and where people can stay over if they’ve over-indulged) and play a variety of games until 3 or 4 in the morning. Can be very interesting with the varied amounts of alcohol imbibed by people. Games played include Pictionary, Taboo, Catch Phrase, Outburst and Cranium.

Kaige, those are awesome games! And your hubby is a game designer? How cool is that? Shame you don’t live in KY. I love to throw games night parties with all sorts of yummy snacks.

Diana, count me in! I love Chutes and Ladders!

Seeley, I love Risk! Hubby seldom plays that with me, since I always win. Unless he thinks he’ll win a game, he won’t play.

Maria, I sure wish you lived closer. I would love to see you and the kids. We could play Monopoly UofK or UofL edition! Woot!

Heather, I love Taboo and Catch Phrase! I just got Outburst and Cranium at Target, but we didn’t get around to playing them this visit. Drats.

    Thanks for commenting, ya’ll.
If you are ever in KY and get a hankering to play board games, let me know. I’ll bring the chocolate dipped pretzels and pizza!
