OMG! I am so stuffed I may have to roll out of my house! LOL. That’s the problem with the holidays. Most of the family get togethers involve eating. So how does a person not gain a ton of weigh during the holidays when everything looks so damn yummy?
1. Small portions and skip the seconds.
There is a tendency to stuff ourselves at get togethers. Instead, try a single spoonful of each dish and put it on your plate. This will give your palate the temptation it craves and will be just enough to satisfy those urges.
2. Drink plenty of fluids.
Not only do fluids fill the stomach, they also keep us hydrated. It’s so easy for people to forget to drink enough liquids in the winter since we aren’t as thirsty as we are in summer.
3. Take advantage of the winter season.
Did you know that the body uses fat storage to keep us warm in winter? Yes, it’s true. When we exercise in the wintertime, we are burning calories at a higher rate, so let the season work in your favor and go exercise!
In addition, more people drink hot beverages in the winter, and hot liquids can slightly increase our metabolic rate.
And lastly, if you do overindulge, remember that it’s not the end, you can always get back on track anytime. Give yourself permission to screw up–but then get right back on track. Remember–you can do it. :)

I didn’t eat as much as I normally do, but I ate a great deal of dessert. LOL.
I love your emoticons…
I had one bite of each. Thought somebody would have to butter my hips in order to roll me through the entryway to the foyer.
But I made it without the butter, thank goodness.
