I Did Something I Haven’t Done Since I Was A Teen

And it was very, very good. What am I talking about? Why, a double header of course. No, not that kind of double-header. ::giggles::

I took werebear to the movies and we couldn’t decide between the new Indiana Jones flick and the second Narnia movie, Prince Caspian.

So we saw both. We watched Indy first because I have a thing for Harrison Ford, always have. Dashing, romantic and a bit of a rogue, what’s not to love about the characters he made famous: Han Solo and Indiana Jones.

Like all of us, Indy has aged, but he looks like he’s aged well. Still dashing, if only with more gray hair. I really liked the Crystal Skulls inclusion and the storyline’s premise intrigued me, since I’ve studied the history and the metaphysics behind the crystal skulls and had hoped to use my knowledge in an upcoming book, but it looks as though they beat me to the theme and plot.

I admit, I still love the very first Indy movie the best, but this one happily wraps up all the loose ends from all the movies and makes for a neat DVD bundle for Christmas and Yule shoppers. ;)

After popcorn galore, large sippy cups of soda and a movie you’d think we would be stuffed and mostly broke…umm, yikes!

But we managed to get a second loan (LOL) and decided to buy tickets for the Narnia movie as well. Yep we spent the entire day practically at the movie theaters and it was surreal.

I loved the second movie as well as the first, and enjoyed seeing Prince Caspian on the big screen. The actor playing the prince is a junior hottie in training and I can just see all the young teenage girls posting him on their walls and on computer wallpaper. ::grins::

I had a few posters of mine own back when. But no David Cassidy or other teen heartthrobs of the era for me. Oh no, I featured George Harrison of the Beatles, Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, and actor Robert Vaughn of The Man From Uncle prominently on my walls.  :P

After hubby and I left the parking lot, we talked about the movies and how much fun it was to see a double header at the cineplex movie theater.

Two or three movies used to be the norm at drive-ins, but those dinosaurs have disappeared from the landscape. The few you find are usually so run-in that the experience isn’t the same.

My question to you. When was the last time you went to a double header and what did you go to see? Do you remember?

  1. Waaaaay too long – it is a miracle if I can sneak off in the afternoon for lunch and a movie. What’s sad is that I don’t even remember the movie we saw! I know where we went to lunch, I know the theater, but the movie is not even a blip on the radar. Must not have been that good. Bummer.

Oh no. Not memorable flick for sure. :???:
Sounds like you need something fun right about now. I may need to stop by for a visit and drag you to a movie or two. Maybe some shopping and lunch. No skimping on the calories either! Something chocolatey and decadent. Yum!

    Fridays are good. Woot! :friday:
