Accentuate The Positive…
Far too often people lose sight of their goals and fixate on the negatives in their lives, which causes a spiral of negative energy that swirls around them, coloring everything they do. It’s a bad habit and one that is hard to break, especially in our current economy and given the troubles most of us have in our lives.
This might take a bit of effort, but in order to turn the tide and keep some of my New Year’s resolutions, I want to start a meme game and I’m calling it, Accentuate the Positive.
Every month I will post a meme telling readers some of the cool things that are positive in my life or funny things I’ve seen and/or done, and ask readers to comment with some of their own. Everyone who comments on the “AP” meme will be put into a drawing for a bookmarks and more packet.
Ok, I have a funny thing to tell. The other day I went to the drs. and he noticed my gray hair and commented on it. Ya know, it’s gotta get bad when your dr. sees your red nose, watery eyes and instead comments on your hair! lol.
So I ran to Walgreen’s and got a box of hair color, sunset blond, which is like a strawberry blond. Well, it said to leave it on for 20 minutes and I really did plan to do that, but when I went to rinse my hair, my shower handle’s hose filled with water, and dang if it didn’t look like a snake in my hand, and damn thing wiggled too! lol. Stupid hose actually burst at one point while I was trying to fix it. I had to turn off the shower and go rinse off in the other tub, but in the meanwhile more than 20 minutes had passed. I glanced at the clock as I towel dried my hair and realized the color had been on for more like 50 minutes! OMG!
My hair is now a pale orange color similar to the inside of a cantelope! rofl.
But why would such a messed up incident make it onto a positive meme? Because after styling the hair and going over to my mum’s for a visit, I had more than one compliment on my new hair color. And on the way back home, I stopped off to pick up a loaf of bread and a cute (and much younger) guy flirted with me. lmao. That is always good for the ego. heehee. So now I love my pale orange hair, and who knows, next time I color my hair, I may intentionally go orange! lol

I wish more people thought this way! I’m always teased (playfully) because I try to find the good in things. So often the world is seen in black and white and I just prefer to find the rainbow! It’s easy to get depressed if you focus on all the junk out there. Now, I’m not saying I’m Pollyanna or that I wear rose colored glasses, but I do try to find happy thoughts each day. I read somewhere that you should write down 5 things everyday that make you smile. I don’t write them down but I do try to talk with my husband about them.
Today’s list so far:
1. Watching my new puppy play in her first dusting of snow
2. Finishing a beanie that I knitted for my son in is favorite team colors
3. Wearing cozy sweats and not feeling frumpy

A screwed up hairdo can be a great way to find something that works for you! I loved my red that turned out orange under florescent lights….
My positive is realizing I only have 4 semesters of college left. Questions of when I’ll finish have always been a big downer for me because of how long I had left. Now the end is in sight, and I love to have folks ask when I’ll finish now!
